Hi Lunalady,if you like Phil Rickmans novels try www.philrickman.co.uk and http//groups.yahoo.com/group/merrilywatkins/ the former you may know is Phils official web site and the latter a discussion group for his novels and related threads. My wife (who is psychic)and I stayed at the George, (which is believed to be haunted )she did'nt get any bad vibes but did see an amorphous blue shape drift through our room,I guess these sort of phenomena affect people in different ways. Bright Blessings.
I am thinking about my visit to George & Pilgrims when having my Glastonbury 'fix' today. I looked forward to visiting it while in Glastonbury but could not remain in the building long. It felt oppressive. My daughter & I sat at a table, had a beer then quickly left without seeing much of it. It was the only place in Glastonbury that did not seem peaceful. Was it my humor of the day or have others noticed that too? I love being able to revist Glasbonbury through the camera from across the big pond. Thank you, Camera!
I enjoy Phil Rickman's novels too....look forward to reading Bones.
Yay! Oh joy... the lens seems to have been cleaned on this camera, hopefully the Abbey is next. And isn't it wonderful to see the scaffolding gone? The High Street looks lovely as ever. Wish I were there.
Maybe soon folks, maybe soon...
Blessings Avalon.
Sorry for the late reply Wicca, been on hol to Corfu!! hope you enjoy the book, I read "The Bones of Avalon" while away and it was excellent,(A prequel to "The Chalice")Bright blessings.
Hi Heyoka! Flint is fine and did a wonderful job on my wrist. Emma is fine as well. Business seems to be picking up. They are very welcoming and were astonished at the fact that a Canadian man told a Portuguese woman where to get inked in England! Itīs kind of funny when you think of it that way... When you go to Glastonbury consider a detour to Portugal, Sintra should really blow your mind. Try goggling it, youll be surprised.
How is Flint? How is Emma?
I'm gathering you went to Inkside Out for your inking, and I would imagine you were inked by Flint.
As I said, how is he, how's the biz?
And if anyone hereabouts is in Avalon, please take a moment to drop by the shop and tell them Michael from Toronto says hello... jeez, I could list a whole lot of names to say hi to, but I won't go through that here.
Blessings all...
Ahahahah! I would be delighted to show you my dragon. It's tattooed on my left wrist. The blood flow on that side is said to go directly in to the heart (thatīs also why we use our wedding rings on the left hand) so I thought it would be a very positive thing to have it done there...
My son also has a (huge) dragon tattoo, which I love. I would really like to see what you had done, it sounds gorgeous. Of course, it may not be in a place you would be able to share :D
By the way Arwen, I never got to thank you enough for finding the tattoo parlour for me. I went there and got myself a bit a Glastonbury literally under my skin. I tattooed a lovely Celtic inspired dragon to remind of all the magical things I experienced there.
Hi everybody!! Thanks for the great summer reading suggestions. I'm starting to miss Glastonbury so badly that I have to be there even if it is through the pages of a good book. Arwen, I share Baggins's envious feeling... but it a good one, because I wish all the best in your new adventure. Maybe next time I go "back home" we can actually meet!
Oh and, HAPPY SUMMER!!
Ah yes, you would have to be very tall!! Pagans like me should not fall prey to negative emotions but I will admit to being envious of your move to Avalon!! Bones is only out in hardback currently Amazon might be your best bet, hope the move goes well, Bright Blessings
Hii Baggins, there is mention of (something like) standing at the top of the High Street, from where you can see the bottom of Well house lane, which isn't possible as you know. I did'nt pick up on mention of the reservoir, I shall just have to read it again!
We are down next Thursday, for a few days, hopefully signing the contracts for our new house (excited face). I shall look out for a copy of Bones.
Hi Arwen, Not sure about the error unless it is with the position of the reservoir, I am intrigued though!!! "Bones" is a prequel to "The Chalice"and involves John Dee, Elizabeth the firsts astrologer, sounds a good read for Glastojunkies!!!
Hi Carolyn, welcome back! I haven't been to Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice, but I've been for the Winter Solstice. The most amazing experience! I'll have to look for that book!
The George & Pilgrim Hotel owes its existence to Glastonbury Abbey. Built in about 1475, the hotel was designed to accommodate wealthy pilgrims and other visitors to the Abbey. A secret tunnel led from the hotel to the Abbey and was the site of many whispered, conspiratorial conversations, particularly during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539.
One story tells of a monk that was discovered using the tunnel for secret trysts with his lover. As punishment, he was buried alive in the tunnel when it was blocked up. Some people think that the ghostly form of the unfortunate monk still haunts the hotel, desperately seeking a way out of the dark tunnel that was to be his grave.
Paranormal activity is so high in the hotel that some residents have been known to check out of their rooms in the middle of the night, deeply disturbed by the ghostly moaning and other spectral activity.
Over the years, both guests and workers in the hotel have reported hearing doors slamming and footsteps, even full apparitions of a man in historical dress have appeared in the bar.
