The King Harry Floating Bridge

About
The King Harry Floating Bridge is an iconic part of Cornwall’s history. Established in 1888, it connects St Mawes and the Roseland Peninsula with Feock, Truro and Falmouth by avoiding the alternative 27 mile route through Truro & Tresillian.
This camera gives an outstanding view around the River Fal on Cornwall's south coast.

Tangyes
Sorry Carol but the locals around Sennen, Porthcurno and that area abosolutely vilify the Tangye family, given that there were "certain allegations about drugs and "family things" in the 80's and 90's about what actually went on.
At their home on the outskirsts of St Levan Police were called in several times and everyone ( in the area) new that they were not a "normal" family. even in the 1990'S the "children" of the family were being brought in front of the local magistrates for drug violations.
I am not wishing to demean your enjoyment of the Derek Tangye books perse as they were of the period. But the reality of the author and his family's problems should be accounted when discussing same in detail.
Regards.

Hi Duffers. I'm not sure that the Tangyes you mention are the same family. Derek Tangye didn't live in either St Levan or Porthcurno. His postal address was Lamorna, and his brother's family live near Newquay. I know that he once found cannabis growing on the cliffs and he called the police himself. He and Jeannie had no children, so I have no idea where that came from. I have been speaking to a friend of mine who knew them very well personally. She lives locally and has never heard of any problems.
Thank you for your concern :-)

Some of you may have seen the photos of me with Cornish author Derek Tangye on FB, taken 20 years ago, about 3 years before he died. I have just found this very old TV programme about him on YouTube if anyone is interested. It's 20 minutes long.

Morning all. Sunny and bright
Morning all. Sunny and bright here after a cloudy and rather cold start. Ann and Jayne, I expect you're both as excited as me at the prospect of a visit to Cornwall and of course our beloved ferry :-)
Most certainly are Carol
Dave and I are ready for the holiday now, but we've another week to work yet. It's going to be really great this year as my best friend and her husband are going too. We haven't had a summer holiday with them for a long time now.
Caravan is all ready just food and clothes to put in - badges are permanently in there. Just need to contact Tim nearer the time to organise a visit so we know how many cakes and dog treats to take with us. We had better not take too many cream cakes otherwise the ferry crew and office staff will be over loaded with so many in a short space of time.

Good things come to those who wait!
Kia ora (hello) to all my friends in the Northern hemisphere. Good to hear you are going into Summer, and are actually getting some sun. This time last year we had just returned from our European River Cruise, and it is sad to see some of the same rivers now flooded. I am wondering if the cruise ships are still cruising down the Danube etc.
We are into our Winter now, and apart from some very cold days and nights we have had milder weather than usual. Had a fair share of rain though. Just had Queen's Birthday weekend and the Police are crowing because we managed to get through without any fatalities on the road - almost unheard of here. Must have been luck, rather than good driving as we have some mad drivers on our roads.
Are you off to Cornwall soon Carol? You will be getting very excited. I am following the second series of Caroline Quentin's Cornwall on tv, and am really enjoying it. Hope you all have a great day. Cheers, Pam xxx
Hi Pam. Yes it is lovely to
Hi Pam. Yes it is lovely to get some sunny weather.I am not expecting it to last though! Hope all is well with you in New Zealand.
Hi Claire
All is well with us down at the bottom of the world. It is not until we travel overseas that we realise how isolated we are down here however someone has to keep the earth upright, ha ha. (Wonder what it was like in the days when people thought the world was flat!) I hope you have a good Summer, you deserve it after the nasty Winter you have had. I so enjoy seeing your adventures on FB. You lead an interesting life. xx

We'll be there the last 2 weeks in June so plenty of time for waves, especially on camera 830. Jayne x
