Not for the want of trying.......

Submitted by Pkin on Mon, 09/01/2012 - 07:11.

I said I would write to the Glasto Press about the abysmal delivery of the Marketplace/High Street 'live' webcams 'in the second week of Jan'. That's from today.

All I have is the newspaper listed below, which has no website,-and research showing that some Glastonbury residents refer to apathy in Glastonbury, in relation to a discussion site that gets negligible responses to posts!

Others have referred to the strong influence the 'alternative' lifestylers have on the town. Such folk I tactfully suggest would have little interest in the performance of webcams!

So? snail mail to a newspaper to a town that might-MIGHT, not give a damn??

It isn't worth it.

I'm away to a national live webcam company. No adverts, just cams-some fail of course at any one time, but there are not problems on this scale- in this town.

Good luck with the Glastocams Glastocamfans-hopefully your loyalty will be rewarded-if masproman can shin up a pole and use some techspertise!!

All the best!

Many thanks masproman !

Submitted by Pkin on Tue, 03/01/2012 - 06:19.

Another informative post!

I'll submit a letter to the local Glastonbury press next week as I said. It seems to me that the Council MUST take some responsibility for either 'encouraging' wifidud to take action,-or kicking them to the kerb! Cam's fail;-they fail, we must accept that like it or not;-but on this level it is totally unacceptable. Saga is the right word!

Perhaps local folk need to know that the servicing of their cams is abysmal. Some might prefer no cams-others might like them....functioning. But perhaps they should be made aware that Township cam's for Glastonbury are getting a global reputation for being lousy!!

Any help you can give masproman will be a Godsend to the camfans!

You do get worked up don't you?

A gentle hint fanboi: you need to look to your own behaviour (and punctuation). I've explained that post. I don't need to explain it to you.

NOW:- How about you go to the Marketplace cam-keep your manners in check- and do something constructive.

Your choice what that is of course-but you need to stop throwing your weight around-put your autograph book down-and come up with solutions rather than all this nonsense of 'stupid' and 'thick'...'wrong side of bed' etc.

Just calm down and put your manners back in. I'm happy to chat further if you wish?

..............you er, actually don't have to 'be there' to be 'down on the Council'. You CAN actually do it from a distance.........??

I'm sure they would just love your eloquence and sophisticated turn of phrase Trifle...

The old camera saga rolls on. It’s not the council; it’s the company they use to manage the wifi system in the town, wifispark .co.uk. They have a stunning website but are, in practice, totally useless.

After 4 months of broken promises and failing to turn up countless times, they finally, 1 week before Christmas, have put a new AP and back haul unit on the top of the medical centre at the top of the high street.

The cameras probably only need a reboot .If they are still not working when I get back in 3 weeks ,if the camera Co give me the ok I will do it.

SPAMMING?

Submitted by Pkin on Mon, 14/11/2011 - 00:33.

Interesting concept! Apparently that can continue,-but if any criticism of this lamentable situation is put up Finestra deletes the post!

How long is this post going to stay up Mark?

As I said; if you cannot provide a functioning cam on a consistent basis,-then remove it. As I said: it's all very well having Friends and Twit followers-but the focus is live cams NOT marketing and adverts.

This is NOT abuse; it is a fact. AS I SAID; your loyal followers have every right to feel frustrated and annoyed.

This will be c/p'd. If it disappears-I'll put it up again.

And if I disappear-then Finestra is censoring any criticism-and have disallowed access.

No WiFi No cameras.

Submitted by masproman on Fri, 18/11/2011 - 15:38.

The council use a company called WIFI Spark to manage the wifi system, for this I assume they take a cut in revenues.
The hardware on the medical centre at the top of the high street has been broken; this appears to provide the upper part of the high street with service and the backhaul for the centre of the high street. This hardware has had the 2.4ghz antenna bent and the cable between the AP and the backhaul ripped out. I know this because if you stand outside you can see it.
I stood next to a colleague of mine as he phoned Wi Fi spark to inform them, also mentioning that full risk assessments and method statements will be required to get on the roof. This was now six weeks ago after it had been down for four preceding weeks. Wi Fi sparks totally ignored this information. the same Colleague called them last Monday to be told that what he told them five weeks ago .Wi fi spark appear to be a professional company but are in reality a joke. Good luck to Mark at checitlive if he is dealing with them.

re cams

Submitted by triffiks on Sun, 06/11/2011 - 16:25.

Ive approached Mark at Finetra and asked, whether the Glasto Cams could be hard-wired together and connected to a single transmitter of some kind., where the reception is good Apparently its a question of budgets here and i suggested that we as users made contributions towards the costs. I was met with opposition from other users re Payment by DDebit etc, but if we want a good service, then surely it makes sense to pay a reasonable amount for it? I wish is till lived there cos id be down on the council everyday till we got somewhere, J )0(

I understand from Mark that its the town council wifi that is mucking up the reception but Im also beginning to wonder if these ruddy spammers are affecti9ng it. ( IM a technical theatre techy and I know sometimes gremlins can get in the system) I was at the carinival 4 years ago and it was amazing. I was also doing the sound desk in the A rooms the same night for the amazing "Daylgo Pirates" a Jethro Tull Band with Paul Forrest. I was given a break so i could see the " floats" they are indeed somethiing spec ial and I just wish Mark at Finetra could have a meeting with the council because this might resolve the matter.
